Snom India is breaking new ground with the Little gennie!

The Snom India Little Gennie integrates analog telephone lines within the IPPBX software. It alleviates the need to run the software on a separate PC reducing the power consumption and administrative effort. Using solid-state hardware minimizes the risk associated with hard disks and CPU fans. It is the perfect solution for small to medium sized businesses (SMB) that want to take advantage of VoIP’s benefits and have the option to keep their existing phone lines. For example, local calls can be terminated through the 4 FXO or (PSTN) lines while international calls can be sent through the Internet via your favorite internet service provider (ITSP).

Modern System Design

The Little Gennie is built on a System on Chip (SoC) design that integrates all essential PBX functions on one chip. This reduces the hardware costs and increases the system stability. Using standard memory like NAND-Flash makes it possible to store large amounts of data in the system. A digital signal processor echo cancellation and gain control on the PSTN side.

Popular CPE PBX Features

The Little Gennie supports music on hold input from a regular audio jack input. Music on hold can be provided from CD or MP3 player as well as local radio stations. The system has a paging output connector. This makes it possible to use existing overhead paging infrastructure. In the LAN the system can also send RTP multicast traffic and use multicast-enabled devices for office audio paging.

How does it work?

An employee wishes to call a fixed-line network number.

He or she dials the fixed-line number normally, preceded by area/region/country codes. (e.g. 0 030 39833 100) 
The Snom India Little gennie recognizes that this dial pattern corresponds to a fixed-line number, and forwards the call to the VoIP provider.
The VoIP provider connects the call to the fixed line-network.

And you are done!

How can I be called up over the fixed-line network?
Just like in the good old PBX days!

Your registered telephone number (either a new number received from your provider, or your old telephone number, transferred to the new VoIP provider) is called from the fixed-line network.
The provider forwards the incoming call to your Little gennie.
Your Little gennie recognizes the incoming number and connects to the desired colleague in your company.

What do I do with my old numbers when I switch to a VoIP telephone system / Snom India Little gennie?

It is already possible today to take over the telephone numbers of your company through many VoIP providers.

How much does it cost to have several parallel trunk lines?

Further parallel trunk lines can be added at any time! Through the concept of the virtual IP gateway, every further trunk line is an additional access/account with your desired VoIP provider. You will be surprised how low the costs are for connecting to the fixed-line network through modern-day VoIP providers.
